Efrem Smith is an internationally recognized leader and speaker who uses storytelling, comedy, and passion to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ at a level that people can understand as well as presents principles for living the life on a daily basis. He also consults on diversity and multi-ethnic issues and has been a speaker at many high school and middle school assemblies and retreats. Efrem has held positions with both church and Para church organizations. He has served with Hospitality House Boys and Girls Club as Program Coordinator, The Minnesota Fellowship of Christian Athletes as Urban Director and the Executive Director of the Park Avenue Foundation as well as the Associate Pastor of Park Avenue United Methodist church; all located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Currently, he serves as Pastor of the Sanctuary Covenant Church and board chair of the Sanctuary Community Development Corporation in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also hosts the radio program, “A Time for Reconciliation” and is author of the book, “Raising-up Young Heroes.” His column, “The Urban Take” is featured in Youth Worker Journal. Efrem is a graduate of Minneapolis North Community High School where he was a student in the Visual and Performing Arts Program. He is also a graduate of Saint John’s University and Luther Theological Seminary. Efrem has been a keynote speaker at many conferences, conventions, and events for organizations such as Athletes In Action, the Alive Music Festival, the Hip Hop Summit at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, Campus Crusade For Christ, Youth Specialties, YWCA, and Compassion International to name a few. Efrem is married to Donecia and has two daughters; Jaeda and Mireya. He has received many awards such as the Role Model Award from the Hennepin County Community Coalition, and the Community Service Award from Saint John’s University.
